Chocolate is the most divine choice to make!
It's ok if you don't have a heart pan! Just put it in square or round pan.
You can just use a toothpick to draw a heart into the whip cream then use the red sugar sprinkles to fill in the edges to make it into a heart shape.
You will still have the heart on the dessert and can proceed decorating with the conversations cut out hearts. It will still be festive and perfect for Valentine's Day.
Fancy and Easy!
I love this dessert. It's like a pie and tart all in one shell. The flaky pastry is delicious and adding the little conversation hearts very festive.
Every year I like to make something special but also the dessert my husband loves.
Chocolate happens to be his kesukaane filling.
I love making it from scratch, making the filling makes it extra special!
If you don't happen to have puff pastry your can make your own pie crust and substitute that instead. I prefer the flaky puff pastry because of the buttery taste.
If you are a vanilla lover go ahead and make any kind of filling you like. You can add coconut or even bananas to the filling. You can really adapt this pastry heart to whatever you prefer.
When I serve this, I like to have a cup of espresso with it. The rich taste of the strong coffee really compliments the chocolate.
Everyone Loves Foods made from the Heart aren't they all?
My husband and both sons are the desserts lovers in the house. If it has anything to do with baked goods like cookies, cakes, pies or puddings it has to be chocolate to be a hit around here.
This not only was a hit but I truly have made this for birthdays and get together's using any kind of pan. This time for the holiday, I thought this would be a festive and elegant way to serve it this year.
I looked at some conversation candy hearts to see what some of the sayings are as they are short and sweet! No pun intended.
You can put whatever sayings you want on the little puff pastry cut out hearts. They really were easy to make! I liked the lacy designed ones, just to give my readers ideas.
Keep it Simple Make it Special!
If you really don't want to make the pastry cream from scratch you can use your kesukaane pudding mix to package instructions.
You can make this a super easy dessert if you use all pre made ingredients. This is chocolate pastry cream in this pastry heart is very smooth and silky.
Make A Romantic Dessert!
This is the perfect dessert to serve after that romantic dinner or just because it so darn delicious anytime.
Going back a few years ago you may remember the chocolate heart shaped cake I made with cherries on top. You can find that and some other Valentine's Day idea recipes here.
Make it Fun and Add Some Love!
I actually use a miniature heart cutter, usually I use these little cookie cutters to cut out bread and make little tea sandwiches.
I love little cookie cutters they really come in handy to add that personal touch at parties and special occasions.
The puff pastry added a little dimension to the top of the heart. If my family liked candy, I would have used cinnamon hearts around the edges but they are not big fans of that hard candy.
It would have looked pretty to define the edges. Make it fun, as the day should be. Have a delicious day making Valentine's Chocolate Cream Filled Pastry Heart!
